I wonder how fast it took to render? Updated: Dec 13, 2024 11:56 am WePC is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission. Prices subject to change. Learn more Table of Contents Table of Contents The game awards have been and gone, but in it, we got a sneak peek of CD Projekt RED’s latest project (no pun intended) – The Witcher IV. The third iteration of the series was one of the most well-received games ever and adored by fans. But that’s not what we’re here for. With the release of the cinematic trailer at the game awards, we saw the fine print sprawling across the bottom of the video. We assumed this text to be the general “not actual gameplay” disclaimer, but upon further inspection, it revealed something much more interesting. Could we have seen the first 5090-rendered video with The Witcher IV trailer? It’s no secret that software and videogame companies are given hardware ahead of time to develop for “future hardware”, so this could indicate that the 50 series is pretty much good to go as we approach the expected announcement at CES 2025. We can’t imagine that CDPR would restrict itself by not using the full extent of the hardware available. We think the trailer may have been rendered on an RTX 5090. With that in mind, this could be the very first peice of media rendered by an RTX 5090 (that we know of) which is kind of a milestome within itself. This could also indicate that the release of the big boy 50 series could be closer than we think. Another interesting caveat (that isn’t neccesarily related to the potential use of the RTX 5090) is the Devs switching from the RED engine to Unreal 5. We all know that the Unreal Engine is capable of some ‘unreal’ things, parden the pun. But it liekly means we’re going to need some pretty beefy hardware to make the most of the engine’s capabilites. We’ve no clue when the 5090 is going to hit the shelves, but we are pretty sure that Nvidia will be making a 50 series annoucment during it’s predicatbel keynote during the convention. We’re also unsure which of the 50 series will release first. If history is anything to go off, the 5090 should be the first.
