Prices subject to change. Learn more Table of Contents Table of Contents The release of Intel’s new B580 GPU is upon us, and the card has already been listed online by a few retailers globally. However, many people on Reddit are complaining about bad European prices, which could slightly hurt the B580’s value proposition. This card was designed for budget gamers and positioned to beat the price of the RTX 4060, which is around €320. However, prices for the B580 are hovering around €319. What’s wrong with that? The B580 is still cheaper? Yes, technically, but it’s supposed to be much cheaper than one Euro. The US and UK prices target $249 for the reference motherboards, which is over $50 cheaper than the RTX 4060. Certainly more than a couple of Euros. Reddit is full of complaints about the European prices of the B580 One Reddit member posted in r/IntelArc that the “B580 is doomed” if the price range is 319€-359€, as you can buy an RX 7700 XT for around 399€. Which should perform better in benchmarks. Reddit user claiming B580 is doomed if listed at 319€-359€ Source: Reddit It is prudent to point out that retailers could take advantage of early stock as they try to sell units at slightly inflated prices before the market becomes saturated. Another Reddit user posted about European prices sucking when trying to pick up an ASRock B580 from a Dutch retailer. Reddit users are being put off the B580 price. Source: Reddit A commenter below also submitted an image from another European retailer with higher-than-expected pricing. This was done on the same post and is the top comment when writing this article. Reddit users respond in comments with more “scalped” prices. Source: Reddit This could be an issue for the value proposition of the B580, as it’s supposed to outperform the RTX 4060 and cost considerably less. Considering the new prices, it doesn’t bring that much to the table despite it being an objective success and a big win for Intel’s GPU division. Another Reddit user is complaining about B560 prices. Source: Reddit One thing is for sure: if the masses are generally concerned and upset by the price of a product, they probably won’t buy it. Especially since the value of this GPU is centred around its value. Many cheaper variants are selling out fast, so sooner or later, it might only be the “over-expensive” listings left. What to do about high B580 prices? Our advice is to sit and wait until the market saturates a little further or wait a couple of weeks. At least until the retailers stop increasing prices to take advantage of a new popular release (if that’s what’s happening), we don’t know whether it’s tax, retailers, or Intel themselves to blame. Still, we’re sure the people shouldn’t be paying the price – especially for a budget-oriented product. The worst thing that could happen is that the GPU sells out for a while, but the upside is that it should come back down pretty soon if nobody is buying it at the current rate. This budget product is built to serve at a specific price point; as soon as it exceeds that, it becomes useless to you and whoever else wants to pay it.
Intel’s new budget GPU might not be so budget in Europe
